A graphic-zine style slant that pitches the ballads of Smoke Signals; perfectly connecting the music to a new genre in editorial design. Packaging that launches the new album as an experience for all the senses.
The tone of the artworks for the album was inspired by the music – dreamlike, mystical and often unsettling. The illustrations and design echo the stories.
The playlist was accompanied by poems that matched the mood, dark, intense and sometimes brooding. The words and the visuals complemented each other, providing an experience that was left open to interpretation by each individual.
Our editorial background immediately kicked in whilst brainstorming on the album design and packaging. The stories – musical narration of love and loss; hope and fear inspired our designers to create individual artworks for each song, which was strung together in a graphic-zine style booklet.
